                                       Delta Brogden

                                  Picture
Delta has been in involved in some form of athletics since 1970. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga with a BS in Business Management and attended the University at Tennessee in Chattanooga. He received a basketball scholarship and is a member of the University's 1977 Division II National Championship Basketball Team.  Delta's athletic career enabled him to experience great coaches and mentors which he believed to be the primary reason he was able to excel in sports. He is certified as a life coach, a personal trainer, and has worked in the health and fitness industry for 20 plus years. At fifty-three years of age, Delta's perspective on training has moved  away from the traditional "gut it out - boot camp" approach that he experienced in his own athletic career.

"The traditional approach to exercise is simply not the best approach as you progress through life taking on careers and family pursuits.  Time that was once readily available can now be very limited. Not recognizing this can leave you with an old approach to new conditions. Luke 5:37-39 "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved."
It is important to find the modality that you enjoy to exercise the body but, be careful.  Limiting yourself to Yoga, Pilates, Kettle bells, or resistance training or any discipline can leave you with less than you had hoped for.  If you consider the fact that; it's all movement, you can use all modalities to achieve optimal health results.  Questions that I invite each client to answer are:

                                  1) What are the best movements that will result in restoring, maintaining, improving, or
optimizing your health and balance to the body?
                                  2) What's needed to reduce or relieve pain, stress, stimulate blood flow, or restore the range
of motion to joints that have suffered due to injury or inactivity?
                                  3) What's really needed in this season of your life that will maximize your experience with career
                                      and relationships.

The answer's to these questions are what make personal training “personal” and specific to each client.  Coaching is that aspect of the partnership that is not comprehensively included in the traditional experience. Mark 8:36 "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own life?"  Consider trying a non-traditional approach to improving your health and managing the day to day challenges that show up. I work with the "whole person", body-mind-spirit. Health is really a comprehensive approach and includes more than just the body."
