                                  LEE Barrett

                                  Picture
Lee Barrett has had a variety of interests throughout his life. He has been involved in athletics since the age of eight and started swimming at the age of two years old.

Lee has a BS degree in Zoology from the University of Georgia and was on competitive swim teams for 5 years.  Lee was fortunate to have a world-class coach who encouraged him to incorporate all aspects of fitness from nutrition, to stretching, and the mental aspect of athletics.  Lee saw the importance of approach and it has been a part of his life and teaching since then.

At the Univ. of Ga., Lee took an aptitude test which he scored very high in careers involving the health sciences. Realizing he was a teacher at heart, Lee redirected his efforts to teaching and coaching on the high school level: Anatomy, Biology, & Physical Science and for twelve years, coached girls and boys swim teams as well.  He continued his education and earned his Masters in Science Ed. from Georgia State University.

In his massage career, Lee has worked at many venues ranging from a hair salon and spa to the Ritz-Carlton hotel at Reynold's Plantation on Lake Oconee.  He used his teaching ability and background to teach Anatomy and Sport Massage at a massage college in Metro Atlanta.  Even though he has worked in many settings, the clinical aspect of massage is by far the most benefiting to any client.  Lee likes the pain management aspect that massage provides.  He has seen wonderful success in modalities of Deep Tissue such as Neuromuscular Therapy and Trigger Point Therapy.  One of the main reasons he has seen this success is that he prepares the body for the Deep Tissue with relaxation first before doing the deep tissue.  This insures that the client does not experience the soreness they have after receiving Deep Tissue from other massage therapists.

Lee has enjoyed teaching aspiring massage therapists. He has benefited from the various work environments that he has been in. He is currently completing a nutrition certification which will come in handy since he is also a personal trainer.  As a health and wellness coach, Lee can utilize his experience to educate and help better the lives of his clients.

Come in and introduce yourself to Lee.  Experience any of the many modalities that he is offering at Change is Now Fitness such as Deep Tissue, Stretching, Sports Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Swedish Massage and many others!
